CIAF 2011

This year’s 18th CIAF (Czech International Air Fest) two-days Air Show was taken place on 3rd and 4th of September at Hradec Králové Airport again.

The show does name itself the biggest Military Airshow in Czech Republic; it definitely was in the past. To earn this title nowadays again, it needs some more attention from the European neighbour Air Forces. It would be better to concentrate again on one big airshow in Czech Republic that could attract some more exotic aircraft. Hradec Kralove has the experience and the infrastructure to deal with a big event and hopefully it will again in the future.

The Doubleseater no 6067 was painted in November 2010 for celebrating the 10th anniversary of the L-159 ALCA in Czech AF service. The Aircraft belongs to the 212. tl (tactical squadron) based at the 21st Tactical Air Force Base (21.Základna Taktického Letectva, 21.zTL) Čáslav about 60km east of the capital of Prague. The left side of the tail shows the lions crest of the Czech Air Force and the right side the first aircraft Aero Ae-01 (A-1 ) by the ALCA manufacturer aero Vodochody

The Mi-17M from Slovak Air Force was seen in the static display. This helicopter is on of two with the digital camouflage scheme. It belongs to the Vrtulníkové Letecké Krídlo helicopter wing at Prešov

The Serbian Air Force participated this year with two aircraft, a Super Galeb G-4 and the well known Soko J22 Orao.

This aircraft belongs to the Flight Test Center VOC (Vazduhoplovni opitni centar) at Batajnica AFB. The special marking was applied in 2008 for solo displays and symbolizes the name of the plane (Eagle) with serbian national themes.

A mysterious and rare visitor was this C-26B with the serial 900530 from US Navy, NAS Sigonella, Italy. The only marking that was recognizable was the number 530 on the tail. The C-26 is the military variant of the commercial Model SA-227-DC (Metro 23) aircraft series manufactured by Fairchild Aircraft Corporation.

Expected from Poland was the White Sparks team with its TS-11 Iskras but it was replaced by Team Akrobacyjny "Orlik" with their PZL-130s and a CASA 295 as support aircraft

The Baltic Bees Jet team was created in 2008 and consists of 5 L-39 C Albatros including one spare aircraft. The teams name is reflecting the original paintings of the L-39s, and is also found in elements of pilots’ uniform

The Breitling Jet Team is the largest civilian aerobatics team performing on jets. It is flying with seven L-39 C Albatros. An eighth plane is used for photo flights

The Flying Bulls team currently flies four Zlin 50LX aircraft, which are manufactured by the Moravan aircraft factory in Otrokovice, Czech Republic

The BH-5 was a two-seat sport aircraft built in Czechoslovakia in 1923 and was based on the BH-1. On 1 June 2007 this replica (OK-BOS) built by Marcel Sezemský and members of Historická letka Republiky československé made it maiden flight. The engine used is an original 1923 Walter NZ_60 five cylinder unit

On 04.092011 a memorial plaque for the Israeli Pilots that were educated by Czechoslovakian Instructors in 1948 at Hradec Kralove was revealed
